You will be introduced to the process of writing, research and analysis of literature. This degree will prepare you for a bachelor's degree in English, literature and other related fields. This transfer degree's courses include Composition I and II, Introduction to Literature, Multicultural Literature, American Literature, and Creative Writing, as well as other general education courses required for the Associate of Arts degree.

The English Transfer Major A.A. degree fulfills the first two years of a four-year degree at many Iowa Universities. Individual program courses may also transfer to other four-year universities. This program puts you on a successful path to earn a bachelor's degree.

Enrollment Process

  1. Apply for admission.
  2. Submit official high school, high school equivalency and/or college transcripts to the Admissions Office of the campus you plan to attend.
  3. Complete ACCUPLACER® reading and writing assessment and ALEKS® math assessment for course placement. Assessments may be waived based on previous college coursework or submission of valid ACT®, or SAT® test scores. Reading and writing scores are valid for three years, and math scores are valid for two years.
