Verification and Missing Information

What is Verification?

Verification is the process your school uses to confirm that the data reported on your FAFSA form is accurate. Once a FAFSA has been completed by a student and received by NICC, a review process of the information begins. Students may be selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education (Federal Student Aid) or by NICC.

If selected for verification, students will be contacted by our partner, Inceptia, to create an account in Verification Gateway. This easy to use system is how a student and parent will submit and complete the verification process. Inceptia's Verification Gateway.

Besides verification, NICC may also request clarification from a student or parent to resolve specific missing information. This may require you to complete and submit forms and/or provide documentation through our NICC Student eForms portal. NICC Student eForms.

How do I know if I have Missing Information?

Students should review their Student Aid Report (SAR) (or FAFSA Submission Summary for 2024-25 FAFSA in January 2024) for specific details related to the FAFSA. The SAR summarizes the information that was provided on the FAFSA and will provide details about any errors, issues or additional steps that may be required. Contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 or by email at studentaid@ed.gov with questions.

NICC will communicate with you via your NICC email account that you have Required Documents in order to complete your financial aid process. You are required to take action on this checklist in order to determine financial aid eligibility.

How do I complete my Financial Aid process?

Students must follow these steps in order to complete the financial aid process and determine financial aid eligibility.

Step 1: Log in to MyCampus.

Step 2: Search for Self Service for Students and then access the Financial Aid task. Review the Checklist and take action where needed.

Step 3: One of the checklist items is Complete Required Documents. If this indicates Action Needed, read each description and follow the instructions/link provided. You may need to create an account with Inceptia's Verification Gateway and or log into NICC's Student eForms in order to complete the items.

Step 4: Once all Required Documents are completed and submitted by the student (and parent if applicable), NICC and/or Inceptia will review and process the information.

Step 5: Once Verification and Missing Documents are resolved, the NICC Financial Aid Office will provide an aid offer notification via a student's NICC email account.

Step 6: Review the aid offer amounts in Self Service - Financial Aid. This provide an estimate of financial aid available to the student based on specific criteria.

NICC has established a partnership with Inceptia to expedite the federal verification process. Verification Gateway (VG) from Inceptia is an online portal to guide students and parents through verification.

If your FAFSA application is selected for verification by the U.S Department of Education, you will receive an email from VGCS@inceptia.org or postcard from Inceptia, containing NICC’s unique website link to start the verification process.

We encourage you to begin the verification process within 7 days of receiving notification from Verification Gateway to ensure you receive your financial aid in time for payments. Failure to complete the verification process could result in the delay or denial of your financial aid.

Follow these steps to complete your verification:

  • Access our school’s unique website link in the email from VGCS@inceptia.org or listed below.
  • Create your account and choose preferences for text messages and e-signatures.
  • Complete your Task List.
  • Confirm your signature and review your information.
  • Sign your account.

*If you are a dependent student, your parent also needs to create their own account and complete each of these steps.
