Business Professionals of America students capture top honors at state conference

All four Business Professionals of America (BPA) students from Northeast Iowa Community College captured top honors at the BPA State Leadership Conference in Urbandale from Feb. 17 -19.

The students now qualify to compete in the national conference in Anaheim, Calif., from May 1 -5. BPA student Christopher Miculinich was also elected Iowa state vice president for the 2019-2020 school year. 

The students are:  

  • Amanda Bredeweg, of Luana, Administrative Office Management program: Advanced Office Systems & Procedures – 2nd Place; Advanced Spreadsheet Applications – 1st Place; Banking & Finance – 2nd Place.

  • Jenna Houg, of Elgin, Business Specialist program: Advanced Word Processing – 2nd Place; Business Law & Ethics – 3rd Place; Prepared Speech – 2nd Place. 
  • Christopher Miculinich, of Waukon, Pre-Nursing program: Medical Office Procedures – 1st Place; Interview Skills – 3rd Place; Prepared Speech – 1st Place.

  • Blaine Schroeder, of Monona, Business Specialist program: Business Law & Ethics – 2nd Place; Integrated Office Applications – 1st Place; Integrated Office Applications – 1st Place.
