Four students named to Phi Theta Kappa All-Iowa Academic Team

At Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s 2019 All-Iowa Academic Team Recognition this week in Des Moines, four Northeast Iowa Community College students were named to the All-Iowa Academic Team.
The students are:
- Carl Klaeska, of Dubuque, Associate of Science, Peosta campus
- Carrie Klein, of Sherrill, Practical Nursing, Peosta campus
- Meg Meirick, of Elma, Practical Nursing, Calmar campus
- Mariah O'Hare, of West Union, Health Information Technology, Calmar campus
In addition, Carrie Klein also was named to the All-USA Academic Team, one of only 20 students nationally, and received a scholarship of $5,000 to assist with her education.
Klein also received another prestigious honor and was named a 2019 New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar; the student is the only recipient in the State of Iowa, joining 49 other state scholars in the U.S. The New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar honors Klein’s top scoring application essay, and her academic and leadership abilities, with a $2,250 scholarship.
Klein will represent Northeast Iowa Community College on April 15 at the American Association of Community Colleges Convention in Orlando, Fla.
