Ranked first in the State of Iowa, Northeast Iowa Community College’s HIT program is second among 54 other competing public institutions in US.
CALMAR & PEOSTA, Iowa–Northeast Iowa Community College has received a second place ranking nationally for the best online Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) degree programs in the nation by Intelligent.com.
Ranked first in the State of Iowa, Northeast Iowa Community College’s HIT program is second among 54 other competing public institutions in US. The student-focused comprehensive research guide is based on an assessment of 1,604 accredited colleges and universities. Each program is evaluated based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation and post-graduate employment. The NICC program earned an Intelligent.com score of 97.81 out of 100.
One other community college in Iowa, Northwest Iowa Community College, was ranked in the top ten with a fourth place score in the research guide.
The 2020 rankings are calculated through a unique scoring system which includes student engagement, potential return on investment and leading third party evaluations. Intelligent.com analyzed 332 programs, on a scale of 0 to 100, with only 54 institutions making it to the final list. Their methodology uses an algorithm which collects and analyzes multiple rankings into one score to easily compare each university’s degree program.
The HIT Associate of Applied Science online degree program at Northeast Iowa Community College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education, CAHIIM. Graduates of the program ensure the quality of medical records by verifying the completeness, accuracy and proper entry into electronic health record systems. Technicians use software applications to assemble and analyze patient data for the purpose of improving patient care and monitoring costs. The HIT is a specialist in coding diagnoses and procedures using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) utilized for healthcare reimbursement and research.
