The Northeast Iowa Community College Sports Shooting team wrapped up its spring semester season competing at the State Trap Championships in Ackley on April 17.
NICC athletes included Kaylie Klimesh and Nathan Breska, who are students at the College’s Calmar campus. Klimesh scored a 186 to take fifth place in the women’s division, and Breska tied for 34th men’s overall with a 187.
“It was a fun two years of competing for NICC. I’m glad I got to end it with a great teammate and coach!” said Klimesh.
Breska reflected on the excitement he experienced competing at the championship. “State was fun and I won in a way. You gotta keep it on the low for Kaylee,” he said.
Anthony Sisneros, head coach, congratulated the NICC athletes for their performances in the fall and spring.
“The State Trap Championships marks the end of another season for the NICC Sports Shooting Team. Even though we only had two athletes able to compete at the championships, I could not ask for a better pair. The friendly competition between Kaylee and Nathan continued from practices to competition to see who could outscore the other. They will be missed next season and all they brought to the team. Overall it has been a great 2020-21 season and I can’t wait until the beginning of the next season,” Sisneros said.
