NICC DISTRICT—Four Northeast Iowa Community College Business Professionals of America (BPA) students competed in Des Moines at the BPA Spring Leadership Conference on Feb. 20. All four members qualified to advance to the national conference in Dallas, Texas, in May.
Members included Calmar student Jake Tackman and Peosta students Riley Fellenzer, Ryan Welter and Brent Krantz. Additionally, Riley Fellenzer was nominated as a state officer in the fall and will be representing the Iowa BPA chapter at the National Leadership Conference as state president. BPA also honored both the Calmar and Peosta chapters with the Quality Chapter Distinction award.
BPA Advisors, Melissa Stewart and Angela Pyzocha, said the local NICC Business Professionals of America chapter on each campus is a student organization open to all students enrolled in business, accounting, marketing or computer classes.
“We are proud to have the members from this year's BPA chapter recognized for their hard work and achievements. These students took action on an opportunity that was provided to them and excelled both personally and professionally. In BPA we call this ‘Giving Purpose to Potential,’” the advisors stated.
