NICC hosting Medical Assistant Open House at Peosta campus

Local healthcare providers have a need for skilled, knowledgeable Medical Assistant graduates and the employment outlook for this occupation is strong.
PEOSTA, Iowa–Medical Associates Clinic & Health Plans and Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) are hosting an open house on March 19 to introduce students to the profession. Students who attend may qualify for a full tuition scholarship, valued at up to $11,000, to support their education and training.
The open house will be held on Tuesday, March 19, from 5-6:30 p.m. in Community Rooms 203-204 at the NICC Peosta campus.
Medical assistants are indispensable members of the professional healthcare team who work alongside physicians and other primary healthcare providers, primarily in outpatient clinics such as physician offices, ambulatory care clinics and urgent care centers. These professionals are in high demand by healthcare providers. The partnership with Medical Associates helps to address this local employment need.
“I am appreciative of the continued partnership that has allowed many students to obtain their education and become valuable members of the healthcare team. This collaboration between NICC and Medical Associates provides a great benefit to both the students and the community,” said the Director of the NICC Medical Assistant program, Jennifer Anglin.

From 2024-2029 projected growth for Certified Medical Assistants in northeast Iowa is expected to grow 6.1 percent, according to Lightcast occupational data.
Students entering the Medical Assistant program at NICC in fall 2024 may qualify for scholarships through Medical Associates Clinic & Health Plans. The healthcare provider plans to hire students who are sponsored and complete the program successfully.
At the open house, attendees will meet with representatives from Medical Associates, learn about employment options and scholarships, meet NICC faculty and tour the College’s medical assistant lab and classroom.
