MONTROSE, Iowa—The Northeast Iowa Community College Sports Shooting squad, competing at its first meet this spring, fell to Southeastern Community College 374-465 at Tri-State Gun Club in Montrose on April 6.
Second-year student athlete, Melody Gossman (pictured at right), produced two of the meet’s standout highlights by shooting a 94 out of 100 to finish 1st place individual female and tie for 2nd place overall.
“We just took one squad with us to this meet. Melody Gossman shot very well,” stated team coach Anthony Sisneros. “As a team this was our first meet back this spring and we were a little rusty. The team took it on the chin 374-465. We are ready to have a full team back this coming Saturday as we host a home meet at Turkey Valley Gun Club versus Southwestern Community College. We would love have spectators come and cheer us on.”
NICC athletes and their scores were:
Hannah Evert, of Mazomanie, Wis. – 76
Melody Gossman, of Rose Creek, Minn. – 94
Kenneth Hintz, of Dubuque – 53
Mason Koehler, of Claremont, Minn. – 76
Adam Reinertson, of Fayette – 75
The NICC Sports Shooting team will compete next at home, at Turkey Valley Trap Range on Saturday, April 13. The trap range is located at 3340 122nd St. in Jackson Junction.
